Philadelphia Visitors Guide

Philadelphia is the epicenter of America’s history, being home to US modern democracy.

However, Philadelphia isn’t only the “Birthplace of America.”  It is also a sprawling cityscape with high-rise buildings, one of the most phenomenal museum collections in the United States, green parks and a unique mix of cultures.
Of course, historical sites encompass some of the most popular Philadelphia attractions.  Most of the most famous historical sites can be found in the Old City of Philadelphia.  Here, in Independence National Historical Park, you can visit the Liberty Bell, Constitution Hall, Benjamin Franklin’s house and grave, and Independence Hall, where the declaration of Independence was adopted in 1776.
The Old City is also filled with art galleries and a young, artistic crowd.  While in the Old City you can visit the Real World Philadelphia House, which is now a gallery for the Art Institute of Philadelphia.  The Old City is also home to the National Museum of Jewish American History, the Independence Seaport Museum at Penn’s Landing and the United States Mint.
If you are a fan of art you will enjoy the wealth of public art found all over the city.  One of the most famous pieces of Philadelphia public art is the LOVE statue in LOVE Park.  There are also a number of statues in Fairmont Park, murals on many of the city’s buildings and the famous statue “The Clothespin” just across from City Hall.  Art lovers will also enjoy visiting the Philadelphia Museum of Art, with one of the largest collections of art in the world.
Philadelphia also hosts a variety of other interesting museums including the Mutter Museum, a museum of medical oddities; the Please Touch Museum, which is great for children; The Franklin Institute Science Museum, which includes a Titanic Artifacts exhibit; and more.
The city is also home to America’s first zoo, the Philadelphia Zoo.  This zoo features a huge array of virtually any animal you would want to see and in the summer you and your family can go on a Zoo Balloon tour to view the zoo from above.
Philadelphia is one of the United States’ most exciting cities.  Aside from the regular excitement of city life, Philadelphia offers history, culture, art and some of the most thrilling tourist attractions around.
