In a magical land where Mickey and Mini Mouse, Jasmine and Aladdin, Goofy and all of your favorite Disney characters come to life, where children gape in awe and adults travel back in time to their childhood, how could you not have a blast?
Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida is the most popular recreational resort in the world. It is home to twenty-three hotels, four theme parks, two water parks and enough dining, shopping and entertainment venues to keep you and your family busy for days. It first opened to the public in 1971 with the Magic Kingdom, and has since added Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and, most
recently, the Disney Animal Kingdom. Disney’s Magic Kingdom is the most visited theme park in the world, with over 17 million visitors in 2008. The park features not only characters and places from Walt Disney movies, but also draws influences from the different architectural styles found around the United States. Walking down Disney’s “Main Street, USA,” you will pass by buildings with food and merchandise, reminiscent of New England, Missouri, small-town America and more. Take the Walt Disney Railroad around the whole park, or make the walk by foot, stopping at each of the themed areas on the way. Hop on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Adventureland; get a taste of the Wild West in Frontierland; scream in terror in the Haunted Mansion in American Revolution inspired Liberty Square; go on the famous “It’s a Small World” ride in medieval Fantasy Land; and don’t miss out on the world famous Space Mountain ride in futuristic Tomorrow Land! When you’ve had your fill of the Magic Kingdom, take a trip over to Epcot. Epcot is dedicated to international culture and technical innovation and features Future World, where visitors can learn about science and space, as well as the World Showcase with pavilions representing 11 different countries. Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park is dedicated to Hollywood and all of the best Disney movies ever made. Finally, when you’re ready to relax, you can go on a safari through Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This theme park, which is themed entirely around animal conservation, covers more than 500 acres and prides itself on being much more than just a zoo. |
