DC’s National Mall - the Epitome of US History and CultureA patriotic expanse that stretches from the Washington Monument to the United States Capital building, the National Mall and Memorial Parks in Washington, DC is not only beautiful, but is packed with history and culture.

  Surrounded by monuments, museums, galleries and memorials, any visitor could spend days roaming around the Mall to see all the sites.

Easily accessible by car, Metro or bus, the National Mall is filled with landmarks and activities.  The Mall is home to the world-famous National Air and Space Museum, the National Museum of American History, the National Museum of Natural History, and the National Museum of the American Indian.  Admittance to all museums is free.
The Mall is also a cultural hub, with a number of art museums and galleries that showcase art from around the world.  Visit the National Gallery of Art and take a relaxing walk around the sculpture garden, stroll through both the East and West buildings of the National Gallery of Art.  Visit the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Freer Gallery of Art and the National Museum of African Art.
The National Mall is also home to a number of important US monuments and memorials, many of which are iconic.  The Washington Monument lies at one end of the Mall and it isn’t uncommon to see locals jogging or sitting on the lawn with a picnic lunch.  On the other side of the Mall is the US Capital, which offers guided tours.  Visitors will also enjoy taking their picture next to Lincoln on the steps of the Lincoln Monument, not too far from the mall, and visiting the Ulysses S Grant, National WWII, Korean War and Vietnam Veterans Memorials.
If you are looking for nature, take a walk around the United States Botanic Garden, or simply sit out on the lawn.  There’s a carousel to keep your children busy while you have a quiet lunch.  In the spring, take a walk when the Cherry Blossoms are in bloom.  Additionally, if you are looking for a workout you can take the family paddle boating around the Tidal Basin.
