Headed East - Travel in Asia

Headed East - Travel in AsiaFrom the peaceful shrines of Kyoto to the beautiful beaches of Maldives and from the spicy smell and colorful landscapes of India to the breathtaking hiking in Nepal, you’ll agree that Asia is one of the most interesting and undiscovered travel destinations in the world.  The cultures, the people, the food and the languages all blend together to form a truly interesting and unique travel experience.
In Asia, you can visit a variety of very different places.  Some of the most popular Asian travel destinations include Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand, Beijing and Shanghai in China, Tokyo and Kyoto in Japan, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in Vietnam, Mumbai and New Delhi in India, Seoul in South Korea and Jakarta in Indonesia.
For Westerners, visiting any of these cities will be a huge change from Western culture, society and values.  Eastern nations tend to be much more spiritual than Westerners.  In nearly every city or town that you visit, you will find a shrine, temple or other place of worship.  It can be a life-changing experience to visit these shrines and take part in a meditation or simply witness the locals in prayer.
It is important to note that because Eastern and Western culture can be so different, it is crucial that you be respectful of the traditions of the country you are in.  For instance, in Japan and China, it is often polite to remove your shoes when entering someone’s home, or even a restaurant.
Speaking of restaurants, one of the things that the east is most known for is the food.  India has some of the best curry in the world and Thailand’s mix of spicy and sweet is a delicious explosion of flavor.  Eating at a Chinese restaurant back home is nothing compared to the freshness and quality you will experience when eating in a genuine Chinese restaurant in Beijing, and sushi lovers will love eating at a sushi bar in Tokyo.
One of the most exciting times to visit Asia is during one of the many festivals.  Chinese New Year is a great time to head East, with celebrations not only in China but in Japan, Korea, Vietnam and other nations as well.  However, no matter when you decide to visit Asia you will be blown away by the culture, people and sheer beauty of it all.
